The first annual Wellfleet HarborFest, a community celebration of Wellfleet's Harbor, will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2011 from 9 AM to 4 PM, rain or shine, at the east end of the Wellfleet Town Pier in front of the bandstand. The event is sponsored by the Cape Cod 5 Bank, Wellfleet Chamber of Commerce, Seamens Bank and SPAT.
Sixty exhibitors featuring charter boats, boat rentals, boat builders, sailing instruction, kayak/windsurf/shellfish demonstrations, educational and information booths, and nautical themed arts and crafts artisans will be represented. Seven food vendors will be serving up delicious creations from chowder and raw bar (oysters, clams and shrimp) to fried seafood, sea dogs, stuffed clams and paella. There will be dock and beach walks, entertainment by the band "Sentimental Journey" and other local artists, and fun for the entire family to enjoy.
The centerpiece of HarborFest will be a Nautical Flea Market, the first of its kind on the outer cape. A sailboat with trailer, canoes, dinghies, small motors, fishing rods, reels, lures, tackle, clamming gear, and lots of boat accessories and miscellaneous marine gear will be available for sale. All items must be in reasonably good condition. Proceeds will be used to produce an informative map extolling the many virtues of Wellfleet Harbor and detailing places of interest within walking distance of the pier.
There will be raffle drawings at 11 AM, 1 PM and 3 PM. Among the items to be raffled will be restaurant gift certificates to the Beachcomber, the Bookstore, Moby Dick and PB Boulangerie and Bistro; hand-crafted jewelry; photographs' art work; T-shirts; gift certificates for oysters, to Mid-Cape Home Centers, WHAT theater tickets, Ragg Time, Graphic Jam, and much, much more.
