Wellfleet bistro cranks it up

There's something wafting through the dining room at PB Boulangerie Bistro that has patrons perked, and we're not just talking about the scent of the eatery's famous bacon and cheese bread.

It's the robust sound of the Limonaire, a hand-cranked instrument made of wood that produces music similar to the street and fairground organs that were popular in France during the 19th and early 20th century.

But this barrel organ, manufactured by Limonaire Fournier of France and about the size of a small chest, is not the kind of little music box you'd find on the mantle at grandma's house.

The organ is played mechanically using a strip of cardboard cards perforated with musical data and fed through the machine as if it were a loom.
