Although "Please turn off your cellphones" has been a key request at arts events for years, Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater now not only allows some patrons to keep phones on, it encourages using them.
A recent Boston Globe story about potential "tweet seats" at area theaters mentioned that Lyric Stage Company was considering setting some up for its spring production of "Avenue Q." That prompted some alarmed comments on the company's Facebook page, threats of subscription cancellation and a number of messages and emails to officials there.
