The loss of the Harbor Stage on Mayo Beach, which has served as the summer headquarters of Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater since 1985, was anticipated, Bruce Bierhans, president and CEO of WHAT, said on Tuesday.
WHAT has leased the space every year from Robert Ferris of Wrentham for $24,000, Bierhans said. The lease runs from May to October.
Loss of the lease will not adversely affect WHAT’s operation, except that some productions that would have been held at the Harbor Stage will now be held at the Julie Harris Stage on Route 6, Bierhans said. “We are planning that now,” he said.
Mark Hough, executive director of WHAT, said on Monday that Robert Ferris, the owner of the property at 15 Kendrick Ave., notified them that he would not be renewing their six-month lease in 2012.
