Cape Cod National Seashore will receive $1,877,000 in grant money from the Transit in Parks Program of the U.S. Dept. of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration to redesign and overhaul the Nauset Bike Trail, a popular path that winds from the Salt Pond Visitor Center to Coast Guard Beach.
U.S. Congressman Bill Keating was instrumental in securing the funding.
The work will involve widening the trail to eight or 10 feet and installing barriers to keep sand off the path. Safety signage also will be replaced.
