Some of New England's most interesting and dynamic live theater happens in Wellfleet. The Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater, or WHAT, offers professional Equity productions, with a focus on frequent world and regional premeries of new American theater. In 2007 WHAT opened a new year-round theater facility next to the Wellfleet Post Office, and offers live broadcasts from the Metropolitan Opera, independent films, and other programs along with live theater.
You can see films in several locations, includingthe Wellfleet Library and the summer outdoors screenings at Wellfleet Preservation Hall. The Wellfleet Cinemas boasts the Cape's only drive-in theater, built in 1957. You can listen on your car radio, or with the original speakers that hang on the window of your car.
